The name Umber Brown

is a chestnut brown to almost black rock found originally back in the Italian region of Umbria. Nowadays umber is mainly found in France, Italy and Germany. This rock is created by undersea volcanic reactions that occur on the ocean floor. Grinded umber is widely used as a pigment in paint.
