You can't imagine German
literature without the name Goethe, known for his famous books such as: 'Faust', 'The Sorrows of Young Werther'and his'Italian journey'. But what few people know is that Johann Wolfgang von Goethe wrote a book about colours: 'Zur Farbenlehre'( translation : 'Theory of Colours'). This work includes a description of the colour wheel and colour psychology. This book also inspired several artists such as Kandinsky, Turner and members of the Pre-Raphaelites. According to Goethe's colour theory yellow stands for 'good' and 'wisdom'. That's why he painted the walls of his office yellow.
